V-E Day must have felt like this.

Sweetness in the air and justice on the wind,
Laughter in the house where the mourners have been,
The deaf shall have music, the blind have new eyes,
The standards of death taken down by surprise.

Alleluia! the great storm is over,
Lift up your wings and fly!

Ah, Fausto, exactly the song that came to mind when I learned the results of the election! Thanks.

My Dad was preparing for the invasion of Japan in the Pacific on V-E day.

There was a good deal left to be done and it wasn't until two nuke strikes later that he celebrated V-J day... a day he though he would not live to see.

My celebration was muted a little by the realization that there is so much work to be done and so many reforms to be passed.

But I am thrilled, relieved, and overjoyed. Don't get me wrong.
