Stem Cells Again

Well, Bush appeared with the "Snowflake Babies" again, this time to veto the stem-cell research bill.

He tries to frame it as a moral issue, but I think he's dead wrong on the morals.

This is a very personal one for me. I'm on record with my position, and why I care so much, here.

What really exposed Preznit Bush's hypocracy was the press conference with Tony Snow. Mr. Snow said the Preznit opposed government funding for stem cell research because he believed it was murder. Then he said that stem cell research wasn't banned, and was in fact being carried out privately and in some states like California. In fact, if the demand was great enough, this research would probably be handsomely funded by private and corporate sources.

In other words, the Preznit believes it is murder, but that this murder is just fine with him if there are large corporate profits involved.

All hail the Ferengi-In-Chief.

I agree with your position completely -- it would be so much better if those fertilized eggs that aren't going to be used for implanting could be used to do good for the world than that they should just be discarded or die of freezer burn.
